Johns Island Farmers' Market -- Kelly and Dale Fort will be regular vendors beginning mid January 2016. Dale will be turning wood on a lathe and Kelly will have her spinning wheel. They are selling handmade bowls, cases, pens, and drop spindles, handspun yarn and mixed metal jewelry. Drop by the to see them, Saturdays, 10 am - 2 pm, 3546 Maybank Highway.

Vat Shack is a mobile indigo dye space sponsored by Enough Pie. Members of the community can learn about indigo's history and the dyeing process. Artists staffing Vat Shack, (several of whom have been guests of PFAG -- Arianne King Comer, Kristy Bishop, and The Gullah Lady, Sharon Cooper-Murray) will provide instruction and assist visitors in dyeing materials. Community Dye Days are every 1st and 3rd Saturday from 9:00 am - 12 noon when the Vat Shack will be at the Joseph Floyd Manor at 2106 Mount Pleasant St., Charleston, SC  29403. (Upper King Street area) Just to see how the process works, you can dye a small square piece of fabric, provided at no charge. If you have a garment or fiber you would like to dye, but sure it is 100% cotton, linen, or silk (no wool) and you are welcome to dip it in the dye pot. Suggested donation of $10/garment to help them replenish the dye pot.

Natural Dye Workshop with Kristy Bishop
Oct. 2 -- in this class you will perform dye experiments, create recipe cards, and dye personal fabric

Workshop on Natural Dyeing and Tapestry Weaving
Oct. 15, 2:00 - 5:00 and Oct. 16, 10:00 - 1:00 -- this class will focus more on dyeing communal cloth. Looms will be provided to learn several key tapestry techiniques. 


Workshop Growing Color: Natural Dyes from Plants, Saturday, November 5, 9:00 - 4:00 The NC Arboretum just off the Parkway in Asheville, NC.  Early Bird registration until Oct. 1 -- $65 for nonmembers. After Oct. 1, registration fee is $75 for nonmembers.
